| Trey
brings 15 years of experience to The Expert Companies
in strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions,
capital fund raising, business development, franchising
and financial operations management. Trey earned an
MBA from Southern Methodist University with an emphasis
in Real Estate Finance.
Trey
oversees Expert’s strategic partnerships, new
business initiatives and growth strategies. He is President
of Expert Development, which focuses on build-to-suit
projects, value-added retrofit and re-tenant opportunities,
and equity opportunities for other developments. Expert
Development is committed to capitalizing on the experience
and success of its partners, including leveraging Surplus
Real Estate's ability to maximize the value for excess
portfolios.
Previous
Experience
Trey grew up in the family businesses of franchising,
energy, banking, travel and entertainment industries.
With his exposure to and involvement in these ventures,
Trey garnered valuable experience including:
•
Growing, operating, and divesting of the oldest travel
agency franchisor in the country – International
Tours. International Tours was comprised of over 1000
franchise and affiliate locations grossing over $2 billion
in sales before it was sold in 1999 to the public travel
company,Travelbyus (Nasdeq: TRIP).
• Acquiring, developing, structuring, and financing
a 17-mile natural gas pipeline in the Dallas Fort Worth
area.
• Acquiring and developing a $12 million limited
stakes casino in Central City, Colorado.
• Operating and restructuring a public gaming
company (North American Gaming and Entertainment Company)
that generated $22 million in annual revenue and managed
over $10 million in retail real estate in Louisiana.
While Trey served as interim COO and CFO, he was able
to increase net income 15% (approximately $700,000).
• Acquisition of the second largest cruise-only
franchise system in the country, and then assisting
in tripling the number of locations in two years (25
to 76) and growing system-wide cruise sales to $200
million.
• Portfolio management of $1.2 billion in mortgage
back securities for the largest Savings & Loan in
Oklahoma (Sooner Federal Savings & Loan) in the
late 80's.
Apart
from the family businesses, Trey served in executive
roles in two large Top 100 travel companies and experienced
the early stages of the e-commerce developments.
• As CFO of Passport Travel, Trey successfully
reduced overhead by 23% in one year while generating
significant additional cash flow by disposing of unprofitable
accounts yielding a total annual cost savings of $1.2
million.
• As COO of ITRAVEL, Trey was responsible for
streamlining and reducing overhead 30% and centralizing
the 44 locations into one. He played a key role in landing
and implementing the $20 million Sprint PCS account
– the largest travel account in the company’s
32 year history.
Most
recently, Trey served as Investor and Vice President
of eBusiness Development for ITRAVEL where he championed
the e-commerce sales strategies through channel development
and strategic partnerships. ITRAVEL was a national travel
company that transformed it's 32 year old traditional
model into a 15 million venture funded internet travel
management company. Trey played a key role in securing
the venture capital funding as well as securing the
strategic funding from an AOL partner (Purchase Pro).
Trey's biggest success came from this partnership with
AOL /Netscape where ITRAVEL become their preferred online
travel service provider giving ITRAVEL access to over
3,000,000 small to middle size businesses. He also played
a critical role in helping drive online adoption to
over 50% for business users.
